DIY Gift Baskets are my favorite gift to give people! Over the years I’ve made several Gift Baskets for those I love. It’s a perfect idea for any Holiday, Birthday or any occasion really. My favorite part is that you can personalize the basket for the receiver. And 9 times out of 10 it ends up being the receivers favorite Gift. It can be a lot of fun finding the things that will make the person happy and putting it all together.
Below are a few different themed DIY Gift Baskets I’ve made over the years. I put a lot of thought into them and have loved seeing the look on my friends and family’s faces when they receive it and see all that I’ve placed in the basket.
Relax and Unwind DIY Gift Basket
This is a great Gift for those who have crazy busy lives, or have a job where they are on their feet a lot. I make this one for my Aunt’s Birthday one year and she Loved it. She is an Elementary school teacher, and I though it would be a great gift and way for her to unwind from the stresses of her job.
- I added a new loofa
- I made a Lavender Sugar Scrub and put it in a nice jar with a nice label.
- Then I found some fancy chocolates
- A scented candle that I knew she would love
- And a bottle of Fine Wine. (I get my wines from a boutique Vineyard in Napa and Sonoma, check it out HERE.)
She was so excited to get it, and had a nice relaxing evening!
For the Movie Buffs
During Christmas after I started dating my Husband, I wanted to impress his Mom and Stepdad. They were HUGE movie buffs, and I had a great idea for a Gift basket. I wanted to make them a Movie themed basket. Before the Holidays approached, whenever we would spend time with them I would nonchalantly look through their movie collection. Here’s what I used for the basket:
- The Movie Second Hand Lions. Obviously any movie will do.
- A few bags of Popcorn.
- Some Fancy Hot Chocolate
- Apple Cider packets
- One of the Hillshire Farm Gift Packs that you get around the Holidays with the cheeses, sausage, and fancy mustards with crackers.
- And Pet Treats for their cat and dogs.
I lined the bottom with Red, Green, and White tissue paper, and placed the items nice and neat in the basket. They loved it so much and told me that it was their favorite Gift that year. I had a lot of fun putting it together, and seeing their reaction to opening it was the best!

Wedding Gift Basket
This one was a lot of fun to put together! My cousin was getting married, and her and her Husband were Wine Coinsures. So I made a Wine Themed Gift Basket. I saw a Pin on Pinterest with a Wine themed Wedding basket. Plus they had printable tags to put on the bottles. Each Tag was a ” Open this bottle for your first……” i.e- First Fight, First Anniversary, First Valentines day and so on. They had a Country Themed Wedding, and I was able to find an older country looking basket and twine for the labels.
- I picked 6 bottles of Fine Wine from my Boutique Wine of the Month Club.
- Then I found a set at the dollar store of Wine Themed towels, matching wash clothes and Oven mitts.
- And of course Chocolate
- Printed tags from Pinterest
- Twine
- Card Stock
And you guessed it……They Loved it! It was a beautiful basket and it didn’t even break the bank.
DIY Gift Baskets are a touching gift for anyone
When you give someone a DIY or personalized gift, it touches their heart. People can really see and feel the personal touch. It’s a more thoughtful way to show someone how much you care about them. Sometimes it can be a little more work, but it’s always worth it. There are so many other Gift Basket Ideas I have to share, but this would be a VERY LONG page. Just think of what you can do to personalize your gift to the gift receiver.
Here’s just a few quick ideas….Homemade goodies and a bottle of Fine Wine is always a great one. For those who are into Health and Fitness, you could make a basket with a healthier Energy Supplement, Active wear and Protein Snacks. For anyone who loves cooking and baking, you could get a few small kitchen gadgets/tools, some self stable ingredients, a new recipe and maybe a bottle of Fine Wine. Use your imagination, (and maybe Pinterest) and have fun with your gift giving ideas this year!
