You might have heard it before What is your Why? What is yours? Why do you get out of bed everyday? What is your why for the work you do? Why do you do what you do everyday? Personally I’ve been asked these questions throughout my life, but I never really gave them much thought. The last few months as I’ve been building this business I’ve been asked what my why is. Rory has challenged us to really think about our Why and write it down. So I have been giving it a lot of thought.
What is My Why…….
I actually have a few things that fuel my why. It sounds cliche but my biggest why is my family. My husband and I have 2 teenagers and I want to be able to be here for them and give them things/opportunities I didn’t have growing up. Both my daughters are incredibly smart and talented. ( I’m only being a little biased here!) And my oldest is already starting to make plans for college. She’s not sure for exactly what, but so far she’s narrowed it down to art school or aviation school. Either way I would love to be able to pay for college for both my girls, so they aren’t buried in school loan debt.
I want to be able to give my sweet husband a break!! About a year after our oldest daughter was born I had postpartum depression so bad I had a mental break down and had to quit my job. Even with therapy and medication I wasn’t able to go back to work. So my husband went out to get a better job to support our family and has been doing so ever since. It’s hard to raise a family on 1 income these days, and he has busted his back ( almost literally) to make ends meet. I want to be able to take care of him and our family the way he has done for so many years, and give his poor back a break!!
My Why is Also Fueled for a Desire for Personal Growth
I never really fully recovered from that mental breakdown 16 years ago. 1 Year after my second daughter was born the postpartum had gotten worse and I was diagnosed with a panic disorder and agoraphobia. It was hard for my WHOLE family, including my extended family. And I want to show them my appreciation for all their help and support during one of the hardest times in my life. I used to be the girl that loved going everywhere, was super social, loved going to new places and didn’t mind crowds of people. So none of us could understand how or why I became that way, or even how to navigate going forward. Although Therapy did help a lot, I still wasn’t myself.
As I was starting this business with the RRR247 community my Why started to expand past financial goals. I started working with this community to try to make money online to help out my family. It seemed like the perfect way to make an income for someone with an anxiety disorder and agoraphobia. I don’t have to leave my house to go to work, I didn’t have to talk to a ton of people everyday or deal with angry customers or work drama of any kind! But I still have to step out of my comfort zone to do certain things to be successful in this business. I love the community here and I want to continue to grow in the community and be more a part of it. And I want to grow in my business and personal life.
So my Why my expanded to personal growth and learning new things.
Expanding My Comfort Zone Became a HUGE Why for Me!!
At a team meeting one night one of our top leaders had told us a quote by Jim Rohn “Do the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable” This Quote by Jim Rohn (although in my head will have Nile’s voice pushing me, Thank you Nile!!) had fueled a fire in my heart. Something just clicked and I realized that if I continue to stay in my comfort zone I’m never going to grow and get better.
“Do the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable” has impacted so many areas of my life. It has helped me to grow in this business, but also with my mental health. This quote has helped me push comfort zones I had no intention on pushing anytime soon. I feel a little better and more confident a little bit everyday. I’ve grown so much in a short amount of time that I want to continue to grow more and more. This community has been a huge blessing to me and my family.
Do You Know Your Why?
Without putting some thought into it, do you really know what your “Why” is? I didn’t until I gave it some serious thought. Although I have a lot of Why’s, I can answer the question “What is your Why?” with confidence. My why is to take better care of my family, help others and to continue to grow so I can achieve my dreams. I want to be the person God created me to be, and the only way I see to do that is to focus on my why and continue to grow.
